Bringing Adidas’ Vision to WebAR

Adidas Ultraboost is about energy and momentum. For the 2021 campaign of the iconic shoe model, UNI_VESE Studios created a high-energy campaign film with premium 3D visuals.

Designed for print and video, these assets weren’t optimized for interactive experiences. Our challenge? Recreating them in WebAR while maintaining visual fidelity.

Seamless High-End WebAR Performance

We built an interactive WebAR experience that allowed users to explore Adidas' high-energy campaign  in real-time through their smartphones. By simply scanning a QR code, users could immerse themselves in a dynamic 3D environment that matched the energy of the original campaign film.

However, bringing high-end 3D assets into WebAR was a challenge. The visuals were originally crafted for video; not WebAR. Working closely with UNI_VERSE Studios, we re-engineered the assets, optimizing them for performance across a wide range of devices. By leveraging Niantic’s 8th Wall technology, we ensured a seamless experience without compromising visual fidelity, making the campaign accessible to users everywhere.

A Global Rollout

To ensure accessibility, we translated it into 27 languages, reaching a diverse global audience.

This project pushed the limits of WebAR. By developing new optimization techniques, we showed that WebAR can complement high-end 3D productions, enhancing mobile AR storytelling for brands like Adidas.
