Bringing the Waterline to Life

Synergique wanted to engage visitors with the story of the New Dutch Waterline at the Gele Loods Museum, a defense system using controlled flooding.
They turned to us to create a hands-on experience that puts visitors in command of water levels.

Interactive Strategy, Immersive Play

Visitors step up to a touch-screen console, where they take on the role of waterline commanders. Their task: adjust locks and gates to manipulate the flood levels on a, projection-mapped landscape. As they slide and tap controls, they watch in real time as water flows into different areas, blocking enemy advances while ensuring civilians have safe passage. Each decision carries weight. Flooding too much might isolate friendly areas, while too little could leave the area vulnerable.

The game’s dynamic mechanics, paired with a historically inspired visual design, create an immersive experience where visitors not only learn but feel the strategic tension of managing the Waterline’s defenses.
