The National Postcode Lottery decided to use augmented reality to push the boundaries of traditional out-of-home advertising for their 2021 year-end campaign. Recognizing our expertise in interactive technology, they turned to Orb to craft an experience that embodied Bring Happiness Home and resonated with audiences on the move.

Creating a Seamless AR Experience

We developed a WebAR experience that transformed digital billboards into immersive engagement points. As the users pointed their phones at the screen, the door in the ad opened virtually, revealing a world filled with celebratory visuals and inviting animations that connected them to the spirit of the campaign.

Even when the ad rotated, Niantic VPS technology ensured the AR experience stayed anchored to the screen. This gave users a personal and immersive way to engage with the campaign beyond a fleeting moment.

Impact & Recognition

By extending ad exposure beyond its 30-second slot, we maximized engagement and tracked precise use numbers. The campaign achieved comparable conversion rates, proving AR’s effectiveness in digital advertising. Its success earned a nomination for the Auggies 2022 Awards in Best Location-Based AR Experience.
